English Saddles
English saddles are excellent for endurance riding and are generally lighter than Western saddles. They do not have horns or protective fenders and the method of attaching the saddle to the horse is different. An English saddle has a leather girth which passes below the horse and is buckled to one side. The stirrups are detachable with a narrower tread than on a Western saddle. The tree on an English saddle is smaller and is padded more extensively.
