Western Saddles
Western saddles have no padding between the leather skirting and the tree. The saddle must be padded with a blanket for a comfortable fit for the horse. Unlike English saddles, western saddles have a horn and protective fenders. The stirrups have a wider tread and are not detachable from the saddle. This design ensures that, with the use of high heeled boots the feet will not slip through the stirrup. Western saddles are often extensively decorated with leather tooling and sometimes silver additions. The method of attachment is by a cinch tied on with a flat leather strap.
